The Burnsville Band

Scottie 'Mad Dog' Blinn
Guitar, Vocals

Hometown:  Victorville, California

Playing in bands since the age of 16, Scottie’s life ambition was to see the world doing what he loved most....playing guitar. By age 20, he was cutting his teeth with legendary Texas Bluesman, Tomcat Courtney. At age 22 he formed the Mississippi Mudsharks and never looked back, recording and touring to this day and racking up numerous San Diego Music Award nominations and 3 consecutive wins in the "Best Blues" category.

Scottie earned the nickname “Mad Dog” from partner in crime Eric “Jailhouse” Von Herzen, for his aggresive approach to the guitar and Roots music, and for his propensity for putting drunk bar patrons in their place.

Many great memories over the years include being on the same bill with some of his favorite bands including Tito & Tarantula, Willie Nelson, Buddy Guy, George Clinton & The P-Funk Allstars, and Dick Dale, just to name a few. Then there was the time at the age of 24 when he pulled an all-nighter with Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) in Dallas, TX, talking cars, guitars, and the Blues...and passing a guitar back and forth learning the “tricks” of the masters. But one of the best memories came on a ‘04 festival in Antwerp, Belgium. After opening for the New Orleans piano legend Dr. John, Scottie and his wife Roxanne were married by him in a traditional New Orleans ceremony.

Although his soul is in the Blues, Scottie never wanted to be “just another Blues player”. Combining all his influences from the Clash, the Ramones, Social Distortion, Tom Waits, Dick Dale, Johnny Cash, and Marty Robbins (to name a few) with his Blues favorites Lightnin’ Hopkins, T-Bone Walker, Freddie King, Billy Gibbons, Jimmie Vaughan, and Anson Funderburgh, Scottie has developed a style all his own where “LESS IS MORE, AND TONE IS KING!”
